The Southern Ridges – Discovering Nature

5 Dec 2020

One silver lining of not being able to holiday overseas, is the discovery of just how amazing some of the trails we have here are. The Southern Ridges have some of the loveliest and most varied trails around, with something for everyone – bird watchers, history enthusiasts, tree huggers, shutterbugs and anyone who just wants to immerse in some greenery away from the glare of screens.

We worked up a good sweat from Mount Faber back down to Hort Park, ending up at Pepys Road for a most satisfying prawn noodle feast. The walk took us about 2 hours but there are many alternative routes you can take, just have a look at the map below.

Your Guide to HortPark and the Southern Ridges is a PDF file (~10Mb) from NParks. It has everything you need to know about planning your route and what you can expect to see along the way.

Try it – you won’t regret it!

In the future, green corridors linking the Southern Ridges to waterfront promenades will be developed as part of the exciting plans for the Greater Southern Waterfront.
